MIAMI, Florida – Andrew and Tristan Tate, polarizing social media influencers and dual U.S.-British citizens, are fighting extradition from the United States to the United Kingdom, where authorities have accused them of rape, sex trafficking and related offenses. The brothers were arrested Saturday in Miami and appeared in federal court Monday, wearing tan jail uniforms and handcuffs, and are being held in federal detention. U.S. prosecutors, citing unsealed U.K. documents, outlined allegations involving three women, including claims that Tristan Tate raped and assaulted a partner beginning in 2012, and that Andrew Tate raped and assaulted two women in 2014 and 2015. A U.S. district judge will determine whether they meet the legal conditions for extradition, with the next hearing set for July 27 before U.S. Magistrate Lauren Louis. LONDON, England – British prosecutors say the latest charges against the Tate brothers relate to four additional alleged victims and cover conduct between 2010 and 2017, including rape, assault, trafficking and offenses tied to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. The brothers already face U.K. charges of rape, causing bodily harm, human trafficking and controlling prostitution for gain involving three other alleged victims between 2012 and 2015. Their attorney in the United States, Joseph McBride, says they will oppose extradition and maintains they are innocent of all allegations. The new U.K. case forms part of a wider international legal saga that has also involved Romanian authorities, who arrested the Tates in 2022 on separate trafficking-related accusations that have stalled because of legal and procedural issues.
