Cincinnati flash floods kill one as storms intensify

Severe thunderstorms on Friday triggered deadly flash flooding in the Cincinnati area, where the Cincinnati Fire Department confirmed one fatality and three injuries, including two people hospitalized in Fairfax. Emergency officials fielded more than 200 calls and carried out at least 40 water rescues, activating the city’s Emergency Operations Center as all on-duty personnel responded. The National Weather Service extended a flash flood warning into early Saturday and issued a Tornado Watch for parts of the Tri-State region until 9 p.m. Eastern. The same storm system brought torrential rain to New York City and New Jersey, flooding subway stations, highways, and disrupting flights at LaGuardia Airport.
