The Trump administration has announced a new global campaign targeting what it calls “Radical Left terrorism,” unveiled at a high-level ministerial conference in Washington on July 17, 2026. The meeting, described as a ministerial on the resurgence of political violence, brought together senior officials and diplomats from 66 countries. Organized and hosted by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the event also featured addresses from senior White House adviser Stephen Miller and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Rubio said far-left extremism would now be treated with the same intensity and coordination as past efforts against transnational jihadist groups, signaling a major policy shift in U.S.-led counterterrorism priorities.
