NEW YORK — A 28-year-old Mexican national was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer in Florida after fleeing Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, the Associated Press reported, citing federal officials. The incident occurred on Tuesday outside a gas station near St. Augustine, where the man was sitting in a vehicle with three other people when ICE officers approached. Authorities said the man ran into traffic and was hit by the truck, and his name has not yet been released. The encounter took place as agents carried out enforcement actions under President Donald Trump’s intensified deportation campaign. NEW YORK — Federal officials said the death is at least the 10th fatality involving encounters with immigration officers since the start of Trump’s mass deportation effort in the United States.
