Camden County mother arrested after infant fentanyl exposure

CAMDEN COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities in Camden County, Florida, arrested mother Natalie Pierantonis after her 1-year-old child was found unconscious and later tested positive for synthetic fentanyl, according to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office. At about 4 a.m. on July 13, the county 911 center received a call reporting that the child was unresponsive at a residence, prompting an emergency response. Camden County deputies, officers from the Kingsland Police Department and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene, where they provided medical assistance before the child was transported for further care. Subsequent medical testing confirmed the presence of synthetic fentanyl in the child’s system. Camden County investigators took Pierantonis into custody following the test results and the initial response to the 911 call. The sheriff’s office said law enforcement is continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding how the 1-year-old was exposed to the synthetic opioid, including reviewing the events leading up to the medical emergency.
