Accra: The Supreme Court yesterday stayed execution of the Court of Appeal's May 21 order that directed the Bank of Ghana to restore the operating licence of GN Savings and Loans Limited, requiring Groupe Nduom to suspend branch reopenings and other operations until the final determination of the central bank's appeal against the appellate judgment. The stay, issued by a five-member panel led by Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, prevents immediate return of assets and management to GN Savings and bars resumption of operations; the Bank of Ghana's appeal will proceed and the Supreme Court will make a final ruling that determines whether the appellate orders on licence restoration, asset return, and receiver actions take effect.
