Michigan Adds Ex-Brown Coach Mike Martin to Staff

Ann Arbor, Michigan — On Monday, July 13, University of Michigan men's basketball coach Mike Boynton Jr. hired longtime Brown University head coach Mike Martin to an assistant coaching role with the Wolverines. The school announced the hire following reporting to the Free Press; Martin led Brown for 14 seasons after his 2012 hire. Martin compiled 171 victories at Brown, surpassing the program's previous wins record in February 2023, and led the Bears to a 20-12 season and Ivy League Coach of the Year honors in 2018-19. Boynton described Martin as an outstanding recruiter and teacher; the university will integrate Martin ahead of upcoming recruiting cycles and the upcoming season.
