Orkin names Chicago highest in national bed bug rankings

Chicago was named the U.S. metro with the highest bed bug activity in Orkin's annual ranking covering treatments performed from May 2025 to May 2026, the company said this week, citing its residential and commercial service records across U.S. metropolitan areas. Cleveland and several Ohio metros also ranked highly, while Nashville placed 34th and Knoxville 40th in the same list. Public-health officials and hospitality operators this year face renewed attention to pest-prevention measures as Orkin added Tampa (No. 46) and Myrtle Beach (No. 50) to its rankings; Dr. Shannon Sked urged travelers to maintain vigilance during travel season, and local pest-control providers may expect increased service demand in affected metros.
