A notice issued on Friday grants the UAE accelerated treatment under U.S. export control laws, allowing it to purchase cutting-edge AI chips, including high-end processors from Nvidia Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. The policy change removes the previous requirement for U.S. government licenses to supply these sensitive technologies to designated UAE government bodies and approved commercial entities, most notably the state-backed technology group G42. The Bureau of Industry and Security said it took the step after verifying the UAE’s efforts to safeguard American technology and its strategic alignment with U.S. interests in the region.
