The NBA has paused a proposed trade sending Kawhi Leonard from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Toronto Raptors while it investigates potential salary cap circumvention involving Leonard’s endorsement deals. The June 30 agreement would move Leonard to Toronto in exchange for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, multiple unprotected first-round picks, a 2027 pick swap, and two second-round selections. League scrutiny centers on whether the Clippers improperly funneled money to Leonard through a $28 million endorsement with Aspiration, which also had a $300 million, 23-year partnership with the team. Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and the organization deny wrongdoing, citing fraud by Joe Sanberg.
