Washington lawmakers press WNBA on Caitlin Clark safety

Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives have sent an official letter to WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert demanding stronger accountability and safety measures to protect Indiana Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark. Led by Representative August Pfluger of Texas and co-signed by 11 other House Republicans, including several from Indiana, the letter cites repeated on-court incidents such as hip-checks, an eye poke, and a strike to Clark’s throat. The lawmakers warn that if the league fails to ensure a safe work environment, it could face federal scrutiny and possible investigations by the Justice Department, Labor Department, or Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
