China: Apple foldable iPhone enters mass production

On July 8, 2026, multiple Asian supply chain reports said Apple’s first foldable iPhone, tentatively referred to as the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra, has moved into mass production ahead of a planned September 2026 launch. Chinese outlets Cailian Press and East Money, and South Korea’s The Bell, reported that Apple has finalized the design and that Foxconn has begun large-scale hiring to support the ramp. Samsung Display’s foldable OLED panels reportedly reached yields above 80 percent in late June, enabling the transition from April’s trial runs. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo forecasts tight initial supply but rapid production scaling through late 2026.
