COLORADO, United States – The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, issued an urgent public health advisory for residents returning to communities affected by the Aspen Acres Fire. Officials warned that tap water is unsafe to drink in areas served by the Pine Drive Water District and the Signal Mountain Ranch Property Owners Water Company, as well as private wells within the burn zone. The Aspen Acres Fire, which began on June 29, 2026, in Custer and Pueblo counties near Pueblo, has burned nearly 94,000 acres, destroyed more than 260 homes, and remains only partially contained.
