Baton Rouge: The Louisiana Department of Education released 2025-26 LEAP assessment results this week showing statewide student Mastery+ rates rose to 36%, a two-percentage-point increase, marking the highest statewide performance on record for grades 3–12. The report notes improvement or maintenance of Mastery+ in 28 of 31 grades and courses assessed. Ascension Parish led with 53% Mastery+, DeSoto posted 45%, and Lafayette Parish reported 43% Mastery+, with district leaders citing gains in science, math and social studies this week. State Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley and district officials said the results will inform the state's transition to a Mastery-focused accountability system and next steps for instruction and support.
