United States: New book details Prince William’s American ancestry

A new book, "American Crown" by Stephanie Green, outlines Prince William’s previously little-known American lineage, tracing the heir to the British throne back to several colonial-era ancestors, including Revolutionary War patriot Nathan Hale and members of the Strong family. Through his mother, the late Princess Diana, William is said to descend from Benajah Strong, born in Coventry, Connecticut, in 1740, who served as a private in the Connecticut militia and helped spread warnings during the Lexington Alarm. The Strong family is documented as having emigrated from England to New England in 1635. Kensington Palace has declined to comment on the book.
