Toronto, Canada – The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed veteran goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky to a three-year, $21 million contract, the team confirmed on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Bobrovsky, a two-time Vezina Trophy winner and two-time Stanley Cup champion, joins Toronto as one of the most accomplished active goaltenders in professional hockey. Over a sixteen-year NHL career, he has recorded 456 regular-season victories, ranking seventh on the league’s all-time wins list for goaltenders. He captured the Vezina Trophy as the league’s top goaltender in 2013 with the Columbus Blue Jackets and again in 2017, further solidifying his reputation as an elite netminder. Bobrovsky most recently spent five seasons with the Florida Panthers, where he played a pivotal role in back-to-back Stanley Cup championships, including the franchise’s historic title run in 2024. During the 2025–26 NHL regular season, he appeared in 52 games for Florida, making 51 starts and posting a 27-23-1 record with a 3.07 goals-against average, an .877 save percentage, and four shutouts. Although his statistical averages declined from his peak years, the Maple Leafs, led by general manager John Chayka, identified his extensive postseason résumé and championship experience as valuable assets for stabilizing the team’s goaltending position.
