United States CEO admits Meta AI rollout delays

Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg told employees at an internal all-hands meeting on July 2 that development of the company’s AI agent technology has not accelerated as planned over the past four months, despite a major internal restructuring. Meta laid off about 8,000 staff and reassigned roughly 7,000 employees to AI teams, but Zuckerberg said the reorganization has not yet delivered results and “could have been cleaner.” Meta may spend up to $145 billion on AI infrastructure this year, but is considering selling excess computing capacity. He projected more meaningful AI returns within three to six months, amid broader market concerns over AI overcapacity.
