Silverstone: Hamilton tops sole British Grand Prix practice

Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in the only practice session for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Friday, clocking 1:29.260 for Ferrari. The seven-time world champion, who holds a record nine wins at the circuit, edged 19-year-old Ferrari teammate and current championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 0.213 seconds. Charles Leclerc was third for Ferrari, with Mercedes driver George Russell fourth. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen placed sixth, between McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. The weekend features a sprint format, with sprint qualifying later on Friday, a sprint race on Saturday and standard qualifying ahead of Sunday’s grand prix.
