In a series of late-Thursday posts on his Truth Social platform, President Donald Trump said it is “ridiculous” for the United States to maintain its current level of financial and military support for NATO, describing the alliance as “one sided” and “not reciprocal.” His comments come less than a week before a key NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, where future U.S. participation in the alliance is expected to be a central topic. Trump linked his criticism to the ongoing war in Iran, faulting European allies for limiting U.S. access to bases after U.S. and Israeli military actions escalated the conflict.
