United States medical firm Medtronic details ShinyHunters breach

United States-based Medtronic has begun formally notifying customers and other affected individuals after confirming that a major data breach linked to the ShinyHunters cyber-extortion group compromised its corporate IT systems earlier this year. The security incident occurred between April 13 and April 19, 2026, when an unauthorized third party infiltrated Medtronic’s corporate environment, prompting the company to launch an investigation after detecting unusual network activity on April 15. Working with external cybersecurity specialists, Medtronic determined that the attackers gained access to personal and confidential information belonging to a large number of individuals.
