New York producer Harvey Weinstein hospitalized after heart failure

New York — Harvey Weinstein, the 74-year-old former Hollywood producer incarcerated at New York City’s Rikers Island, was hospitalized about two weeks ago after suffering heart failure linked to pneumonia, according to TMZ, which cited sources with direct knowledge. The sources said Weinstein experienced difficulty breathing before authorities transferred him to the Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward in Manhattan, where he has remained under medical supervision. Doctors reportedly placed him on an IV, connected him to a heart monitor and administered antibiotics to treat the pneumonia. Weinstein is described as feeling better but still not fully out of danger, and he continues to receive ongoing care at the hospital facility. New York — Weinstein is currently awaiting sentencing in September following a 2025 sexual assault conviction, and he has faced a series of serious health problems while in custody. In 2024, he was hospitalized at Bellevue multiple times for emergency heart surgery, pneumonia and abnormal blood test results, and he received a diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukemia, a rare blood cancer, in October 2024. Weinstein, who co-founded Miramax Films with his brother Bob in 1979 and later launched The Weinstein Company, built a powerful presence in Hollywood through films such as Pulp Fiction, Shakespeare in Love, Good Will Hunting and The Lord of the Rings trilogy before his career collapsed amid sexual misconduct allegations in 2017. He has been held at Rikers since 2020.
