Israel warns Iranian cyberattacks triple amid conflict

Israel – Iranian cyberattacks on Israeli systems have tripled over the past year, Israel’s National Cyber Directorate chief Yossi Karadi said in a June 29, 2026 interview with German newspaper Die Welt. Karadi reported that authorities recorded about 4,800 hostile cyber incidents in June 2026, compared with roughly 1,600 in June 2025, when Israel was conducting the “Rising Lion” military operation against Iran. He said the latest surge in digital attacks coincides with the ongoing “Roaring Lion” offensive, highlighting that the conventional conflict is now mirrored by a rapidly expanding confrontation in cyberspace that involves state-linked actors and their proxies operating across global networks. Israel – Karadi warned that Israeli officials view these cyber operations as a continuous threat that does not pause with battlefield developments. He stressed that “some groups are very skilled” and that Israeli defenses can manage the attacks only by treating them as a serious and persistent challenge. To illustrate the disconnect between physical and digital conflict, he noted that cyberattacks against Israeli networks actually doubled on the day a ceasefire was signed to end the 12-day kinetic war in June 2025. According to the National Cyber Directorate, the attacks have targeted a broad range of systems, from critical national infrastructure to private companies and individual users, although Israel says it has so far thwarted major breaches of key infrastructure.
