Indianapolis: WNBA suspends Alyssa Thomas after Clark injury

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark left Wednesday night’s home game against the Phoenix Mercury in the third quarter with a back injury following two hard, uncalled plays, and did not return as the Fever lost 111–109. In the second quarter, Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas fell on Clark during a loose-ball scramble and drove a hand into Clark’s throat without a foul being called. Moments later, Clark landed on Mercury forward Valeriane Ayayi’s foot after a three-point attempt; the play was reviewed but not upgraded. Less than 24 hours later, on June 26, 2026, the WNBA retroactively assessed Thomas a flagrant 2 and a one-game suspension.
