Buffalo trades Byram, Tuch in multi-team shakeup

BUFFALO, New York — In a flurry of pre-draft activity on June 24–25, 2026, the Buffalo Sabres executed two major trades that reshaped several NHL rosters ahead of the 2026 Draft, which they are hosting this weekend. Buffalo sent 25-year-old top-pair defenseman Bowen Byram and forward Jordan Greenway to the Chicago Blackhawks for the No. 4 overall pick, defenseman Louis Crevier and the 46th overall selection. Byram, coming off a career-high 42-point season, had anchored Buffalo’s top defensive pairing and helped end the franchise’s 14-season playoff drought. Buffalo also traded winger Alex Tuch to the Washington Capitals, while Washington separately acquired Jordan Kyrou from the St. Louis Blues.
