India electronics supplier hit by major cyberattack

India – Tata Electronics, a key Indian manufacturing partner for Apple and Tesla, has confirmed it was recently targeted by a cyberattack that led to the exposure of confidential technical data, including proprietary component designs and quality inspection standards. In a statement released on June 22, 2026, the company said it identified the breach several weeks before going public and immediately activated its internal incident response procedures upon detecting the unauthorized activity. Tata Electronics said its manufacturing operations and broader business infrastructure remain fully functional and that the incident has not disrupted production for its clients. Despite the company’s assurances, an online extortion group calling itself World Leaks has claimed responsibility for the intrusion and has begun publishing documents it says were stolen from Tata Electronics’ systems. The group alleges it exfiltrated more than 200,000 individual files totaling over 630 gigabytes of data, including materials referencing Apple’s internal manufacturing processes. The database posted on the World Leaks website lists folders labeled “com.apple.factorydata” and documents marked “material specification,” as well as a 52-page technical manual bearing Apple’s proprietary markings that reportedly details specific quality inspection standards.
