HOUSTON, Texas – The corporate entities behind Camp Mystic, a century‑old all‑girls Christian summer camp in the Texas Hill Country, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. The move comes nearly a year after a July 4, 2025 flash flood along the Guadalupe River killed 25 campers and two teenage counselors. Court filings list more than $10 million in liabilities and between $100,001 and $500,000 in assets. The bankruptcy follows a Texas legislative report alleging systemic failures in the camp’s emergency response and mounting wrongful death lawsuits.
