Arkansas Sues Roblox and Discord Over Safety Concerns

Little Rock — Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin on Monday announced lawsuits against Roblox Corporation and Discord Inc., alleging the companies knowingly exposed children to predatory behavior and sexually explicit content by failing to implement promised age verification, moderation and parental-safety features. Griffin said the platforms prioritized profits over safety and cited rising reports tied to the services. The complaint, filed June 11 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, asserts violations of state public nuisance law, the Deceptive Trade Practices Act and unjust enrichment; it cites Roblox's report of 144 million daily users with roughly 40% under 13 and NCMEC data showing suspected exploitation reports rising from 675 in 2019 to more than 13,000 in 2023. Court proceedings and expected company responses are the next steps this week.
