Israel: Minister rejects Lebanon ceasefire proposal

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said on Monday that Israel should reject any ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, declaring that the neighboring Arab country "should be Israel's playground," according to an interview with public broadcaster KAN. He urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to convey Israel’s opposition to a Lebanon ceasefire directly to U.S. President Donald Trump, while still describing Trump as a close ally. Ben-Gvir’s comments come amid internal Israeli political and security disputes over a reported U.S.–Iran memorandum of understanding and its potential impact on efforts to end the Israeli war in Lebanon, including U.S.-mediated talks with Lebanon and concerns over Hezbollah.
