The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has issued a new order sharply restricting the import, sale, and use of drones containing foreign-manufactured components, expanding earlier measures that had primarily targeted China-based DJI. Announced in Washington, the policy aims to strengthen domestic aerial infrastructure and reduce dependence on foreign supply chains. However, five prominent drone and aviation experts warn the expansive scope could undermine those goals by slowing infrastructure deployment. Industry executives, including Airgyde CEO Sean Cassidy, say the rule reaches beyond the FCC’s traditional telecom mandate and could fragment the market.
