Montgomery Hits Walk-Off, Lifts White Sox Over Braves

CHICAGO — Braden Montgomery, called up from Triple-A Charlotte earlier Tuesday, hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Chicago White Sox to a 6-5 victory over the Atlanta Braves at Rate Field. Montgomery finished his major-league debut 2-for-5 with three RBIs and the game-winning run. The win moved the White Sox to 35-31 and within a half-game of the Cleveland Guardians atop the AL Central; the Braves entered the game at 45-22. Matt Olson homered twice for Atlanta and Mauricio Dubón gave the Braves a temporary 5-4 lead in the 10th before Montgomery connected on an 0-1 changeup from Raisel Iglesias as automatic runner Andrew Benintendi scored.
