TOLEDO, Ohio — On Saturday (June 6) at about 5:37 p.m., gunfire erupted near the Old West End Festival. Officers who were already in the area responded immediately and found 12 people shot, including two in critical condition; the conditions of the remaining victims were not immediately available. Deputy Chief Joseph Heffernan said preliminary information indicates at least two shooters were involved and investigators believe the exchange of gunfire resulted in the 12 people being struck. Police secured the scene, began processing evidence and said they have collected evidence and are actively pursuing leads. The investigation remains in its early stages and no suspects had been taken into custody as of Saturday evening. The Old West End Festival is an annual event that draws large crowds to one of Toledo's historic neighborhoods.
