Federal prosecutors in Sacramento, California, have charged 49-year-old Kimani Osayande Jones, also known as Kimani Osayande Jackson, with unlawful possession of explosive material within an airport following an incident at Sacramento International Airport. On the evening of May 30, 2026, Transportation Security Administration officers allegedly discovered an M-type explosive device and a torch lighter in his carry-on bag, along with a knife, scissors, scissor blades, an aerosol can, zip ties, and five cellphones. One phone allegedly had a 15-minute timer set, and another displayed a message indicating someone was awaiting his call. Jones was arrested at the scene, and the investigation into motive and target is ongoing.
