Virginia judge halts Trump administration anti-weaponization fund

A federal judge in the Eastern District of Virginia on Friday temporarily blocked the Trump administration from advancing its $1.776 billion Anti-Weaponization Fund, escalating tensions between President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans. U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema ordered the Department of Justice to suspend all activities related to the fund, including transferring money, processing claims, and disbursing payments. The fund was created last week as part of a settlement of a lawsuit Trump filed personally against the IRS and was intended to compensate people alleging wrongful targeting by prior administrations. A June 12 hearing will determine whether the injunction is extended or broadened.
