The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote Thursday on legislation directing President Donald Trump to withdraw from the war with Iran, testing congressional support for a conflict launched more than two months ago without explicit authorization. The measure invokes the 1973 War Powers Resolution, which was enacted during the Vietnam era to reassert Congress’s authority over military engagements. It follows a Senate vote on a similar resolution that passed 50-47, with support from four Republicans. A small but significant group of House Republicans is now breaking with the president, amid a fragile ceasefire and rising U.S. gasoline prices.
