San Antonio, Texas — The San Antonio Spurs advanced to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2017 by eliminating the Minnesota Timberwolves with a 139-109 win in Game 6 of their second-round series on Friday night. Stephon Castle led San Antonio with 32 points and 11 rebounds, while De’Aaron Fox added 21 points and nine assists as the Spurs pulled away and controlled the game. Rookie Dylan Harper provided a spark off the bench with 15 points, and the Spurs set a franchise postseason record by hitting 18 three-pointers on 38 attempts. Victor Wembanyama contributed 19 points in 27 minutes, following a dominant Game 5 performance after his Game 4 ejection earlier in the series. Minneapolis, Minnesota — Minnesota’s offense struggled to keep pace, with Anthony Edwards scoring 24 points on 9-for-26 shooting, while Terrence Shannon added 21 points off the bench and Naz Reid finished with 18. Julius Randle was limited to three points on 1-for-8 shooting as the Timberwolves faded late in the series, and coach Chris Finch said the team “ran out of bullets” as the games wore on. The Spurs’ victory sets up a Western Conference Finals matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have not lost in the 2026 playoffs. San Antonio took four of five meetings from Oklahoma City in the regular season, and the conference finals series is scheduled to begin Monday.
