CHICAGO — On Saturday, authorities say Alphanso Talley allegedly fatally shot Chicago Police Officer John Bartholomew and critically wounded his partner inside Swedish Hospital after being taken there following an armed robbery at a Family Dollar on the North Side. Prosecutors told a court this week the same firearm allegedly was used in both the earlier robbery and the hospital shootings. This week Talley appeared in Cook County court for a detention hearing and faces charges including first‑degree murder, attempted murder and aggravated battery; a judge ordered him detained.
