Washington — The State Department said Tuesday it is preparing a limited release of commemorative U.S. passports that feature a picture of President Donald Trump, making him the first living president to appear in the travel document; the design concept was under consideration for months and was approved late Monday ahead of America’s 250th anniversary in July. The department said the passports will be produced in a limited run and initially offered only to applicants at the Washington, D.C., passport office on request; applicants who do not want the commemorative booklet may choose a standard passport instead, State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott said Tuesday, and officials emphasized that security features will remain unchanged for the commemorative design.
