A morning rampage in Shreveport left eight children dead — seven of them the gunman’s own — and two women critically wounded, police said. The suspect, 31-year-old Shamar Elkins, shot a woman at one home before killing the children, ages 3 to 11, at a second house; he died after a police pursuit in which officers fired on him. Detectives said it was a domestic incident. A relative said Elkins and his wife were separating. One child was found dead on a roof; another survived a jump. It was the deadliest U.S. mass shooting in more than two years.
