Gov. Lamont proclaims weekend in honor of UConn basketball teams

Gov. Ned Lamont declared April 3 through 6 a statewide celebration after UConn's women's and men's teams reached the 2026 NCAA Final Four, giving the weekend a lengthy title that proclaims Connecticut the basketball capital. He urged residents to wear blue and white and display Huskies signs, praising the student-athletes' elite performances. Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz applauded coaches Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley and players Tarris Reed Jr. and Azzi Fudd. The UConn women play South Carolina on Friday, April 3; the men face Illinois on Saturday, April 4.
