Breaking with a 165-year tradition, the United States will add the president’s signature to paper currency to mark the 250th anniversary of independence. The first $100 bills will carry Donald Trump’s signature alongside Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s, with printing expected in a couple of months before the change expands to other denominations. Bessent called it a sign of strong economic progress and a fitting tribute to historic achievements, a view backed by US Treasurer Brandon Beach. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing will produce the notes, as anniversary plans include honoring Trump.
