Gov. Kevin Stitt has reportedly tapped oil and gas executive Alan Armstrong to finish Sen. Markwayne Mullin’s term, as Mullin’s nomination to lead DHS advances toward a full Senate vote, possibly this week. Stitt and Armstrong were expected to meet President Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday, with Armstrong’s 2021 donation to former Rep. Adam Kinzinger likely to surface. Stitt weighed Armstrong alongside Dustin Hilliary and Harold Hamm, and could announce the pick once the Senate confirms Mullin, as early as Sunday. If appointed, state law would bar Armstrong from seeking a full term.
