Trump says US talking with "a top person" in Iran but not the new supreme leader

Speaking in Florida, President Donald Trump said the US is holding high level talks with a 'top person' in Iran’s leadership, not Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, led by envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. He claimed earlier operations had 'wiped out' much of Iran’s hierarchy and said he does not recognize the new cleric’s authority. Trump framed easing on certain Iranian oil stockpiles as a market move. He touted 'major' progress toward a five day push for a deal on no nuclear weapons and control of enriched materials, while still seeking USD 200 billion for the Pentagon.
