Venezuela captured its first World Baseball Classic title, edging Team USA 3-2 Tuesday in Miami. Eugenio Suarez ripped a ninth-inning double to left center to score pinch runner Javier Sanoja, and Daniel Palencia set down the final three batters. Eduardo Rodriguez and a stingy bullpen held the Americans to three hits, while Wilyer Abreu homered and Maikel Garcia drove in a run. Bryce Harper briefly tied it with a 432-foot shot in the eighth. Garcia was named tournament MVP. “This is a celebration for all of Venezuela,” Suarez said.
