WASHINGTON, Joe Kent, director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, resigned on Tuesday, saying he cannot in good conscience support the Trump administration's war in Iran. In a letter and post on X, Kent said Iran posed no imminent threat and that U.S. action followed pressure from Israel and its American lobby. He is a retired Green Beret and Gold Star husband who was confirmed last July. The White House and intelligence offices did not immediately comment.
