Washington — Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger will deliver the Democratic response to President Donald Trump's State of the Union address next Tuesday, party officials announced publicly this week. Spanberger, a three-term former congresswoman who became Virginia's first female governor after a double-digit November victory, will speak immediately after the president's address to present the party's countermessage. Democratic leaders Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer praised her focus on lowering costs and protecting health care.
