Chiefs stumble in late moments as losses mount | JQJO

Kansas City’s 5-5 start masks a startling pattern: the Chiefs are collapsing in clutch time. They are 0-5 in one-score games, and in final five-minute, one-score situations the offense has run 11 plays for just 13 net yards, with Patrick Mahomes 2-for-10 and a sack, an NFL-low 18 percent success rate over eight seasons. The defense isn’t bailing them out, allowing six first downs on seven late third or fourth downs, including conversions on third-and-15 and third-and-14, tied for the worst mark tracked. The Athletic’s model puts their playoff odds near 56 percent, but their season hinges on late-game fixes.
