After another poor defensive showing, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said he is taking over defensive play-calling from coordinator Joe Whitt, who will remain on staff and work from the press box on coverage. Quinn cited the unit’s slide — No. 29 in points and No. 30 in yards allowed, including 2,602 passing yards — punctuated by surrendering 546 yards and 44 points in Sunday’s loss to Detroit. Leaning on their Cowboys and Falcons history, Quinn said he and Whitt will "slip into" a familiar rhythm as he assumes defensive coordinator duties to "get it right."
