Backup quarterback TJ Lateef made a first start, leading Nebraska past UCLA 28-21 at the Rose Bowl as Go Big Red chants rolled through a season high crowd of 44,481. Filling in for injured Dylan Raiola, the Compton native completed his first 11 throws and finished with 205 yards and three touchdowns. Emmett Johnson battered the Bruins with 129 rushing yards plus 103 receiving and two scores. UCLA’s Nico Iamaleava threw two TDs and ran for 86 yards, pulling within seven with 4:54 left, but the Cornhuskers drained the clock. The Bruins dropped to 3-6 after a defensive letdown.
