ESPN has been dark on YouTube TV since October 30 amid a Disney contract fight, and viewers are flocking elsewhere. Apptopia’s mobile analysis shows YouTube TV users boosted their usage of Sling TV, Fubo, and DirecTV apps by more than 35% each after the blackout; ESPN and NFL apps saw smaller gains, while Hulu showed little benefit and can’t be separated from Hulu + Live TV in the data. The standoff is costly: YouTube TV is giving roughly 10 million subscribers a $20 discount, and one estimate puts Disney’s daily fee losses around $5 million.
