Colorado demotes Shurmur after Utah rout

Pat Shurmur’s role at Colorado has been cut back after a 53-7 loss at Utah. According to USA Today, Deion Sanders removed his play-calling duties and demoted him from offensive coordinator to quarterbacks coach; passing game coordinator Brett Bartolone then called plays in a 52-17 loss to Arizona. Sanders hinted at offensive changes during a Tuesday briefing and has since limited player media access. Colorado is 3-6 (1-5 Big 12) after last year’s 9-4, with three games left against West Virginia, Arizona State and Kansas State.
